History of Virgin Islands Lottery

Situated in one of the most salubrious climates in the world, the U.S. Virgin Islands boasts the oldest continuous lottery of any state or territory flying the U.S. flag. For the past seventy-one years the VI Lottery has been an integral part of social fabric of the Territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands and continues to play a pivotal role in the society.

From the early beginnings, the Traditional or Passive Game has been its staple providing employment for many and a means of extra income for thousands of lucky players.

Through the years the Lottery has experienced significant growth and development and has increased its portfolio of games as a value-added measure and as a means of increasing player satisfaction. As a result, the agency has become much more visible and viable and is now a contributor par-excellence to the economy of the Virgin Islands, generating more than 12 million annually. In fact, the VI Lottery agency is among the top revenue producers for the treasury of the territory.
